Following an extensive review of the site and the now available technology, Boralex has submitted a Section 36C Application to Scottish Minister which seeks to improve the energy yield of its consented Shepherds’ Rig project while reducing the number of turbines in the scheme.
The 17-turbine project, consented by Scottish Ministers in 2023, underwent a significant review process in light of new turbine models now available which would see fewer, larger machines able to generate an increased amount of power.
All of the application documents, along with all of the previous application documents, are available to view and download from the website downloads section but are also available to view in hard copy at Lagwyne Hall, Carsphairn and Castle Douglas Public Library.
Any representations on the variation application may be submitted via www.energyconsents.scot using reference ECU00005137. Please note that you must be in possession of a working email address to submit a representation virtually.
If you would prefer to submit your representation by post, please send to the Scottish Government, Energy Consents Unit, 4th Floor, 5 Atlantic Quay, 150 Broomielaw, Glasgow, G2 8LU, identifying the proposal and specifying the grounds for representation. Written representations should be dated, clearly stating the name (in block capitals) and full postal address of those making representations. All representations should be received not later than 05 October 2026. Scottish Ministers may be able to consider written representations received after this date.
