Welcome to Shepherds’ Rig Wind Farm in Dumfries and Galloway

Scotland leads the way in harnessing renewable energy sources. However, the net-zero targets set by Governments in Scotland, the UK and Europe will require further investment in onshore wind. Ways to ensure the landscape can accommodate this include carefully chosen sites and sensitively designed developments.

As part of this ambition, an application under S36 of the Electricity Act was consented for a development called Shepherds’ Rig Wind Farm, near Carsphairn in Dumfries and Galloway. Wind developer and applicant Infinergy was acquired by Canadian renewables company Boralex and has been operating as Boralex since early 2023. The company develops onshore wind farms throughout the United Kingdom and has in-house expertise and experience needed to design, develop, build and operate wind energy developments.

Boralex has been reviewing the consented scheme and is now looking to vary the proposal in line with industry improvements to turbines and grid infrastructure upgrades.  Further information regarding public consultation can be found here.

We are keen to work with the local community. This website aims to share information about the project throughout development and to invite members of the community to get in touch.
